OnePlus has been rather quick about updating their community builds for OxygenOS, which has just been bumped up to version 3.5.2 for the OnePlus 3, after having jumped to Community Build 3.5.1 back on September 2nd, and version 3.5 a little over a week before that on August 24th. Today’s new Community Build version isn’t just about the OnePlus 3, though, which does seem to have been getting quite a bit of love from the OnePlus team, but also about the OnePlus X, which has received a new Community Build version today, too, moving forward to version 3.1.1. Both Community Builds are now also available to download and install, and as always OnePlus provides a handy set of instructions for flashing these builds to the device. Granted, if you’re already familiar with the process and have flashed earlier Community Builds, you can skip right past that and get to the download file.
Each Community Build is rather hefty in file size, with the OnePlus 3 build totaling 1.3GB, while the OnePlus X build is a bit lighter at 761MB. Due to the larger size of the OnePlus 3 file, there are more changes and improvements included. Those changes start with things like a button to manually check for updates, so if you’re an update fiend and you’re always curious to know when there’s new software available for your phone, this should be pretty useful and make the process of checking more simple and more efficient. Other changes are present, like the button in the recents menu to “kill all background processes,” if you feel the need to do such a thing, and the “back contacts” widget as well as options in the messages app that pop up when you long press.
OnePlus also notes that the OnePlus 3’s new Community Build now supports 6-digit PIN codes so you can make things a little more secure by adding in an additional 2 numbers, and they’ve added enhancements for incoming call notifications, improved the speed of the dialer, added new modes in the control panel, and made optimizations to the battery saver mode. When it comes to the OnePlus X, Community Build version 3.1.1 includes some general bug fixes, but also includes a new capability to remove apps from the SD card if you have them stored in that location, as well as improvements to video capture’s HFR setting, and improvements to the speed, responsiveness, and accuracy of the touch on the device. Perhaps most importantly, though, the build also has the September Android Security Patch. Both files are available to download from OnePlus at their website, if you’re looking to move to these new builds.
