OPPO is currently one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in China. This company was the second-largest smartphone manufacturer in China in the first half of this year, as they have managed to ship quite a few devices in the country, they were still nowhere close to Huawei’s numbers though. That being said, OPPO had introduced a couple of interesting smartphones this year, and the OPPO R9 and OPPO R9 Plus are quite probably the most popular ones. These two handsets have been selling really well for the company (the company has sold over 20 million units in just 6 months), and we’ve been seeing the OPPO R9s rumors / leaks for quite some time now. One such leak surfaced earlier this month, claiming that this device will launch on September 12th, but that didn’t happen. This handset did, however, get certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) last month, and the phone has now popped up on China’s CCC site, read on.
China’s CCC (also known as 3C) authority is in charge of certifying smartphones, just like TENAA, and even though the device paid a visit to 3C, the site didn’t really share any new info about the device, so we have to rely on the previous info that surfaced. In any case, the OPPO R9s is expected to ship with a 5.5-inch fullHD display, 4GB of RAM and a 2,850mAh battery (OPPO’s Super VOOC charging will be included here). Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 SoC is expected to fuel this smartphone, and a 16-megapixel selfie shooter will probably be a part of this package as well. The 13-megapixel camera will be placed on the back of the OPPO R9s, and the device will be made out of metal, just like its OPPO R9 and R9 Plus siblings. Now, we do know what will this smartphone look like thanks to TENAA’s listing, the phone will resemble the OPPO R9 and R9 Plus quite a bit, the home key will be placed below the display, and it will double as a fingerprint scanner. The power / lock key will be available on the phone’s right-hand side, while the volume rocker keys will be placed on the left side.
That is pretty much everything we know about the device thus far, though keep in mind that the aforementioned specs are based on rumors and leaks. This handset will probably get announced next month, though we’re still not sure, stay tuned.
