If you’re one of those people who is always on the lookout for the most value for their money when purchasing a smartphone, the recently announced HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle and HTC Desire 10 Pro have likely piqued your interest. While technically a part of the mid-tier price range, both of these devices punch way above their weight which is especially true for the 4GB variant of the Desire 10 Pro. Unfortunately, it seems like neither will be coming to the US or Canada anytime soon. As reported by Tech Times, HTC has apparently decided not to release its latest Desire phones in North America due to the fact that it has opted for a more “global” approach towards selling them. That still doesn’t really explain this move, especially since the Taiwanese consumer electronics manufacturer could really use a sales boost in the US where it’s been underperforming for quite a while now.
It’s worth noting that the aforementioned sources point out that this decision may not be final and that both the Desire 10 Lifestyle and Desire 10 Pro could eventually make their way to the US. Sources cite the example of the HTC Desire 530 which had a similar release pattern. Still, this is bad news for people who were looking to purchase a reliable and relatively cheap smartphone this fall as the latest HTC models tick both of those boxes.
More specifically, the Desire 10 Lifestyle is equipped with a 5.5-inch (1280 x 720) screen, Snapdragon 400 1.6GHz quad-core CPU, Adreno 306 GPU, 2GB / 3GB of RAM, and 16GB / 32GB of internal storage. In addition to that, the device boasts a 2,700mAh battery with fast charging support, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front one. It ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is 156.9 x 76.9 x 7.7mm in size. Desire 10 Lifestyle is priced under $300 and is already slated to release in certain territories this Saturday, October 1st.
As fo the Desire 10 Pro, it features a 5-5 inch (1920 x 1080) display, MediaTek Helio P10 2.0GHz octa-core CPU, Mali-TH60 GPU, 3GB / 4GB of RAM, and 32GB / 64GB of storage space. It also comes equipped with a 3,000mAh battery which supports fast charging, a 20-megapixel rear shooter with laser autofocus, and a 13-megapixel front camera. Just like its weaker counterpart, Desire 10 Pro ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is almost identical in size, boasting dimensions of 156.5 x 76 x 7.86mm. The device is slated to release in November. Earlier today, HTC’s president for the Middle East and Africa revealed that the most powerful variant of the Desire 10 Pro will be priced at 1399,99 dirhams in the UAE, which amounts to just over $380.
