The ZTE AXON 7 managed to surprise quite a few people (when it launched earlier this year), ZTE’s current flagship smartphone not only packs top of the line specs and build, but it also doesn’t cost all that much. The ZTE AXON 7 has been priced at $399 (basic model) since its launch, and it packs a 5.5-inch QHD display, 4GB / 6GB of RAM and it is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit octa-core SoC. That being said, the AXON 7 Mini has been surfacing for quite some time now, and the company has now finally unveiled that smartphone, let’s see what it has to offer.
The ZTE AXON 7 Mini is essentially a smaller, mid-range variant of the AXON 7 flagship. This device looks identical to the AXON 7, but it’s smaller, and its specs are vastly differently. The AXON 7 Mini features a 5.2-inch fullHD AMOLED display, along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 617 64-bit octa-core processor, along with the Adreno 405 GPU. The 16-megapixel shooter (f/1.9 aperture, EIS+PDAF, sapphire lens) is placed on the back of this phone, along with the dual-LED, single tone flash. The 8-megapixel camera (f/2.2 aperture) can be found on the front side of this smartphone, and a 2,705mAh non-removable battery is also included here. The fingerprint scanner can be found on the back of this device, and there are two front-facing speakers included here as well, and yes, those are stereo speakers. The AKM 4692 chip is included here, and these speakers are capable of producing Hi-Fi sound playback, while the phone also offers Hi-Fi recording.
There are two SIM card slots (2 x Nano SIM) available here, one of which you can use to expand the storage of this smartphone up to 128GB. The AXON 7 Mini is equipped with 4G LTE Cat.6 (300/50 Mbps), and it supports the following LTE bands: B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/20/38/40/41. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the device, and it’s a rather light skin, it looks somewhat different than stock Android, but there’s essentially no bloat on it, only some apps and features by ZTE. The phone will be available in Ion Gold and Platinum Gray color variants, and will cost €299.
