BlackBerry DTEK60 Listed For Pre-Order On Staples Canada

Having launched the PRIV and the DTEK50 smartphones over the past year, Canadian tech company, BlackBerry, is now all set to launch its third Android smartphone, the DTEK60. The device hasn’t yet been officially announced, but various leaks, rumors and online listings have revealed just about all there is to know about the upcoming handset. The DTEK60 has already popped up on a number of e-commerce sites, including B&H and NCIX Canada. Now, it is the turn of yet another third-party retailer, Staples Canada, to list the upcoming device for pre-order on its website, although it is currently said to be “Out of Stock”. The listing, however, includes pricing details and hardware specifications of BlackBerry’s latest premium smartphone.

Staples is quoting CAD $699.99 ($535) for the unlocked 32GB model of the DTEK60, which is the exact same price as quoted by NCIX. B&H in the US, meanwhile, is asking for $500 from BlackBerry faithfuls wanting to pre-order the device in the U.S. While the pre-order page on B&H has since been taken down, the listing did provide confirmation of the rumored hardware specs of the all-new BlackBerry smartphone that’s believed to be designed and manufactured by TCL. The Chinese tech company was in charge of the mid-range DTEK50, which was launched earlier this year and was thought to be a re-branded Alcatel Idol 4. The Canadian company has already announced that it won’t be investing any more of its resources into designing smartphones and will instead concentrate on its profitable software services business.

That being the case, this particular device is also believed to be designed and manufactured by the Chinese firm, and is very likely a re-branded Alcatel smartphone if online speculations are anything to go by. According to the various listings, the BlackBerry DTEK60 will be a premium smartphone that will feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440) display panel and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. The device will come with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, while imaging options will include a 21-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone will have a fingerprint scanner and an NFC chip, while a 3,000mAh battery will keep the lights on. The phone measures 6.06 x 2.97 x 0.28-inches, while connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.2 LE and USB-C.
