Hot on the heels of this week’s Xiaomi event, which revealed two brand new smartphones that include the Xiaomi Note 2 and the concept Xiaomi Mi MIX which has almost no bezels around the entire display, alleged specs and renders of the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi 4 have leaked today showing off yet another handset coming from one of China’s top brands. If the renders are to be believed, which look more like press renders as opposed to mocked up renders that were made, then the device will have a very similar style to many of Xiaomi’s other smartphones as most of the way around it doesn’t seem to deviate too much from their designs.
The first thing to make note of is that the Redmi 4 utilizes what looks like a metal body all the way around. Although this isn’t necessarily uncommon these days for smartphones, Xiaomi’s most recent devices have utilized a combination of metal and glass not unlike the Mi 5. The images of the device reveal that the Redmi 4 will feature a fingerprint sensor on the back, in the middle of the phone and under the rear-facing camera sensor, which, is accompanied by an LED flash module to the left of it.
On the front, the device has a set of capacitive buttons at the bottom, the front-facing camera and the earpiece at the top, and on the sides you’ll find the volume rocker and power button, as well as the sim card slot. As for the specifications, the details list that the Redmi 4 comes with a 5-inch display size with a Full HD resolution, as well as 32GB of internal storage space on the phone and 3GB of RAM. The cameras will be a 13MP sensor on the back with at least an LED flash, but no details are mentioned in regards to whether or not the phone will come with anything like OIS or phase detection autofocus. The front-facing camera will be a 5MP sensor for video chat and selfies, and inside it has a 4,000mAh battery to keep things powered on. There are no specifics on the processor other than the fact that it’s said to be an octa-core Snapdragon chipset from Qualcom. That said, unless this phone is powered by a new chip that Qualcomm has yet to release, it’s possible that Xiaomi could be using the Snapdragon 652 here. Rumored colors according to the leak will be silver, gray, and gold, and a rumored price lists the phone for 1299 Yuan.
