Meizu Shares A Mysterious 'Meizu X' Teaser, Is It A Phone?

The Meizu PRO 6s has been leaking like crazy lately. This smartphone is expected to be introduced in the coming weeks, and judging by the leaks thus far, it will look (almost) identical to the Meizu PRO 6, well, the company’s VP more or less confirmed that yesterday. In any case, the Meizu M5 had also leaked recently, and the company had announced a press conference for October 31st, so we can basically expect them to introduce at least one smartphone during that event. We presume that the Meizu M5 will be announced during that press conference, though it is possible that Meizu plans to launch both the Meizu M5 and Meizu PRO 6s on October 31st.

That being said, it seems like the company released yet another teaser, though this teaser mentions the Meizu ‘X’, which is, presumably, an upcoming smartphone as well. This is quite odd considering this is the first time we’re hearing about this smartphone (or whatever it is), so we really have no idea what’s coming. This image was shared by one of the company’s employees it seems, and it really doesn’t reveal all that much. All we get here is a black and white image and a huge ‘X’ on it, while the tagline says ‘unknown’. Now, some rumors are saying that this could be a new pair of Meizu’s headphones, while others are saying that Meizu’s VR glasses could be on the way. Now, do keep in mind that the company’s TV box got certified in China recently, so the ‘X’ could stand for that as well. In any case, we’ll have to wait and see what happens, Meizu did not share any specific date with this image, but it is likely that the Meizu ‘X’ will launch on October 31st.

Considering that we don’t know what Meizu ‘X’ stands for just yet, the Meizu PRO 6s is still the most exciting Meizu-branded handset we’re waiting for, mainly because the Meizu PRO 7 with a curved display and the Exynos 8890 is not going to be announced this year, as the company’s VP confirmed a while back. This is not good news, of course, Meizu really needs a device with new, fresh design, something that will be above and beyond the Meizu PRO 6 they’ve introduced this year, both in terms of the design and specifications, as even their CEO had criticized the lack of design innovation earlier this year. We do hope that Meizu is preparing such a smartphone sometime soon, who knows, maybe the Meizu ‘X’ represents such a phone.
