The Meizu PRO 6s is definitely the company’s most leaked smartphone in the last couple of weeks, but it seems like that might not be the only Meizu-branded smartphone in the pipeline. Another one of the company’s seemingly upcoming devices has just surfaced, the Meizu M5. The Meizu PRO 6s may not be the high-end smartphone we’ve expected, as it won’t feature the Exynos 8890 SoC or a curved display, but it will be considerably more powerful than the Meizu M5 it seems, at least if this leak is to be believed.
If you take a look at the provided images, you’ll notice that the Meizu M5 sports the mBack home button just like a number of other Meizu-branded smartphones. In any case, this will be Meizu’s budget offering, you can expect it to be very affordable, at least based on its specifications. Meizu’s devices are usually quite affordable, and if you consider that the Meizu M5 is inferior to the rest of the devices Meizu had released this year (at least most of them), you can expect it to be dirt cheap. Now, that doesn’t mean that this won’t be a capable smartphone, not by a long shot. The Meizu M5 is expected to ship with a 720p (1280 x 720) display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The device will be fueled by the MT6750 SoC, a 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, which is the same processor that is fueling the Meizu M3 which was introduced earlier this year. You’ll be able to find a 13-megapixel camera on the back of the Meizu M5, and we’ll probably get a 5-megapixel snapper up front, though the listing doesn’t really share that info. The combination of Meizu’s Flyme and Alibaba’s YunOS will run on top of Android here, or at least it seems like it.
Now, in addition to the Meizu M5 leak we’ve just talked about, the company has scheduled a press conference for October 31st, and it seems like they could launch the Meizu M5 on that date. In any case, we’ll probably see more info before the phone launches, so stay tuned, we’ll report back soon.
