Halloween may still be several weeks away, but Minecraft: Pocket Edition developers have been working hard to make sure you’re all set for the scariest night of the year. Namely, the Microsoft-owned Mojang has just rolled out an update for its popular mobile which brings some Halloween-themed goodies and a whole lot of bug fixes.
First and foremost, the update version 0.5.10 adds the so-called Campfire Tales skin pack to the game. Like its name suggests, all of the skins within the pack have been inspired by spooky stories Mojang has recently been sharing on Twitter. There’s almost a dozen of them in total so it’ll be a while before you get bored with the looks of your protagonist. As for other stuff, the update fixes a minor bug related to texture rendering, polishes the smart turning mechanic in VR mode and eliminates the issue of characters’ capes clipping through armor. In addition to smart turning, the VR mode also received some additional improvements. Namely, the game won’t crash when rendering leads anymore, top cursor flickering has been completely eliminated, and general controls are now more responsive.
The new Minecraft: Pocket Edition update also comes packed with VR bug fixes previously found in all three of 0.16 beta builds. Most of these fixes are minor but should really improve your overall gaming experience as the 0.16 beta ended up significantly improving the stability and performance of playing Minecraft: Pocket Edition with a virtual reality headset. Last but not least, the special MineCon skins and capes which Mojang has recently been distributing reportedly caused problems for some players as the game was allegedly asking them for various amounts money in order to download them. Mojang noted that this isn’t by design and is urging Android players to try to download the MineCon pack from the Play Store again. In case you’re still asked for money, use the “MINECON2016” code in order to lower the asking price to zero. Note that this is a limited exclusive skin pack which means it will probably be pulled from the Play Store before the end of the year, so get it while you can.
