Sprint, the fourth-largest wireless carrier in the U.S., is offering its customers the chance to get their smartphones for free if they were to buy at least two devices from the carrier on the 24-month installment option. The device at the center of the offer is the LG Stylo 2, an entry-level Android smartphone from the South Korean electronics company that is listed with an MSRP of $240. To take advantage of the free LG Stylo 2 offer, customers will have to activate at least one new line on Sprint. The carrier had made a similar offer with the LG Tribute 5 last month. In case you’re looking to switch from a competing carrier, Sprint is offering to slash a whopping 50% off your monthly bills as part of its promotional plan that’s been in place for months now.
The offer is applicable not only for Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile subscribers, but Cricket and U.S. Cellular customers are also being extended the same offer this time around by the carrier. Sprint is also waving off the $30 activation fee by offering a bill credit of an equal value. Coming to the LG Stylo 2, as mentioned already, it is an entry-level handset targeted primarily at pre-paid customer. The device is available on a number of carriers in the U.S., including Boost, MetroPCS and Cricket Wireless. Even though a more beefed-up version dubbed the LG Stylo 2 Plus, has already been launched in the country, the older device has continued to remain in circulation nonetheless. Meanwhile, the free smartphone offer is only applicable for a limited time, so you might need to hurry in case you’re interested.
With the Galaxy Note 7 out of commission, the companies that are expected to benefit the most are Apple, LG and of course, Google, with its newly-launched Pixel devices. Just about all major carriers in the U.S. are allowing their customers to exchange their Galaxy Note 7s with any smartphone of their choice, and the recently-launched LG V20 may very well become a popular choice for users in the coming weeks and months. The LG Stylo 2, however, is a much more humble device that comes with a large 5.7-inch 720p display and is powered by the Snapdragon 410 SoC. Imaging options include a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The device comes with LTE connectivity and and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
