After months of speculation, Google finally and officially unveiled the long-awaited Google Pixel and Pixel XL flagships at its hardware event in San Francisco that took place earlier this morning. While unlocked variants of the two Nexus successors will be sold worldwide, the Mountain View-based tech giant is also partnering with certain carriers in order to distribute its two latest offerings. In the US, Google opted for Verizon as the largest wireless carrier in the country just announced that it’s an exclusive wireless provider of both the Pixel and Pixel XL.
In a short announcement, the company stressed that both devices take full advantage of its 4G LTE wireless network which is available to over 314 million people in the United States. Of course, Verizon is talking about LTE Advanced, a mobile communication standard which offers significantly better speeds than standard LTE. As Verizon just introduced the standard in close to 500 US cities in late August and given the fact that both of Google’s latest flagships support it, it’s not surprising that the US carrier opted to use this as a pretty major selling point.
Verizon will be offering the 32GB model of Google Pixel and Pixel XL in three colors: Quite Black, Very Silver, and Really Blue. On the other hand, the 128GB variant of the phones will only be available in Quite Black and Very Silver. Pre-orders for both phones are already available both in stores and online. The 32GB Pixel can be purchased for $27.08 per month on a 24-month contract while the 128GB version will set you back $31.24 per month for two years. This coincides with the retail prices of both devices which are set at $649.99 and $749.99, respectively. As for Pixel XL, the 32GB model goes for $32.08 per month with a two-year Verizon contract while the 128GB model costs $36.24 a month for two years. In accordance to that, the 32GB and 128GB variants of the Pixel XL will retail for $769.99 and $869.99, respectively. In other words, Verizon won’t be charging you an annual percentage rate of charge (APR).
In addition to that, the carrier is also accepting trade-ins of select smartphones and is willing to give you a discount of up to $300 on both devices.
