The Xiaomi Mi MIX is arguably the best-looking smartphone of this year. Xiaomi had introduced several new devices during their press conference two days ago, the long-awaited Xiaomi Mi Note 2, the company’s Mi VR headset, and the totally unexpected Xiaomi Mi MIX phablet. The Xiaomi Mi MIX is actually a high-end offering by the company, and a bezel-less device, the only side this phone has some bezel is on the bottom, and even that ‘chin’ is not that big, which makes this device look really stunning. Xiaomi is using some interesting technology here in order to replace the regular earpiece, which made it possible for them to keep the phone bezel-less on the top. We already have plenty of Mi MIX coverage on the side, but new info just keeps on coming.
We’ve already shared the Xiaomi Mi MIX’s spec sheet, though not all details were revealed from the get-go. Xiaomi did not reveal who manufactured the display that they’ve used on the phone, nor who made the camera sensors which are placed inside this device. Well, the 6.4-inch panel that is utilized in the Xiaomi Mi MIX is made by Sharp, as expected. This device is clearly inspired by the Sharp Aquos Crystal, though truth be told, it looks way better than Sharp’s offering, mainly due to a significantly smaller chin. Now, as far as the device’s camera sensors are concerned, you might be surprised to hear that these are OmniVision’s sensors, not Sony’s. On the back of the device, Xiaomi has included a 16-megapixel 1-Micron OV16880 sensor by OmniVision (1/3.06 inches sensor size). As far as its front-facing shooter is concerned, the company has opted to implement a 5-megapixel OV5675 sensor (1.12um pixel size) by OmniVision.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX sports a 6.4-inch 2040 x 1080 display, along with 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB of non-expandable internal storage. This device is fueled by the Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC, along with the Adreno 530 GPU. The 4,400mAh battery is also a part of the Mi MIX package, and the device ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, while the company’s MIUI 8 OS is installed on top of Google’s offering. The Xiaomi Mi MIX measures 158 x 81.9 x 7.9mm, and weighs 209 grams, which makes it considerably smaller than other devices which sport similarly-sized displays.
