Samsung has been rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat beta update to selected Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge devices in the United Kingdom, South Korea and in the United States. Since its official release, beta testers have received two updates, and today, Samsung has rolled out a third update, bringing a new version of Android 7.0 Nougat beta to both smartphones. However, the update is currently being rolled out to devices in the UK only, at least for now.
As part of the Galaxy Beta Program, the South Korean company has mentioned in the past that it takes feedback from its beta testers seriously and to stay true to its words, the firm has implemented a few changes to the firmware after receiving feedback. In the new beta update, with the firmware version G935FXXU1ZPKK, users of Galaxy S7 devices will now have the ability to choose the layout for the Quick Panel toggles. Now, there is a 4 x 3 layout option for the buttons and a brightness control menu has been added, allowing users to put the brightness slider at the top of the buttons or back into the main notification shade. The status bar icon, clock along with spacing have been improved in the latest beta update too. On top of that, Samsung has removed the Edge feeds feature but it is likely that the feature will return in a future update. However, the new beta still contains some issues that haven’t been resolved yet. Issues include a delay in the screen lighting up when the screen is turned on and intermittent Wi-Fi disconnection. Samsung notes that these issues only plague a small number of users and it is working hard to find solutions.
If you are part of the Galaxy Beta Program in the United Kingdom, you should be receiving this update today or in the coming days. The Galaxy S7 devices will automatically receive a notification of the update which is 300MB in size, and give customers a choice of when to install. However, if you do not receive the notification, you can simply head to Software Update in the settings and download it manually.
