The Moto Z and Z Force are the two current flagship smartphones from Lenovo and Motorola. However, if you were one of the first to get your hands on the Moto Z or Z Force then chances are that you own a ‘Droid edition’ as the two Moto Z devices originally arrived in Droid form via Verizon. If one of those Droid Edition Moto Z phones is your current phone, then you might want to check if you have an update waiting. Specifically, an update to Android 7.0 (Nougat).
At the moment this is still an unconfined update from Lenovo, Motorola and/or Verizon. However, some users on Reddit are reporting that their Moto Z devices on Verizon have received the update to Nougat. As is usually the case with this sort of claim, there are pictures coming through (which you can see below) supporting the claim that the Nougat update is indeed rolling out. At least, to some Verizon Moto Z devices. It should be pointed out that at the end of September, ‘Q4’ was the time that a Verizon representative was quoted stating that the update to Android 7.0 would come through for the Moto Z family. So while this seems to be a bit of a surprise update, it would essentially be on time, in spite of Q4 being fairly vague and spanning a three-month period.
Either way, as this is still an unannounced update, the details are a little light. However, one of the images does confirm some of the features that are included in the update. For instance, Split-Screen mode and App quick switching are both included. According to the images, the update comes with version number NCL25.86-11 and includes the November 1 security patch. In spite of the size of the update not being shown in any of the images or provided by any of the users, the install image does detail that the update takes about 20 minutes to install. It is also worth noting that the user who posted one of the images is confirming that it “works with daydream.” Needless to say, if you do own a Verizon Moto Z or Moto Z Force, then now is the time to be heading into the settings and seeing if an update is ready for you to download and install. After all, this is the Android Nougat update
