Wireless carriers change their plans quite often. But they don’t always retain the same price. However, when carriers add more data and keep the price the same, customers get excited. And that’s exactly what AT&T has done today with GoPhone – one of their prepaid brands. While AT&T has been focusing on Cricket mostly, they haven’t forgotten about GoPhone, which today added more data to their $45 and $60 plans. Starting with their $45 plan, there was 3GB of data available before today. Now, AT&T has added another gigabyte, bringing it to 4GB. The $60 plan jumped from 6GB to 8GB of data. Like most other prepaid carriers, GoPhone does offer a $5/month discount if you do autopay. Meaning that you can get 8GB for as little as $55/month.
These plans from GoPhone do include a few benefits from postpaid AT&T plans. The $60, 8GB plan includes unlimited talk, text and data to and from Canada and Mexico. While both plans do also include Rollover Data. So that if you don’t use your entire data allotment, it will rollover to the next month, so you have a bit extra data available for the following month. Unfortunately, data does expire after 30 days. Existing users can switch over to these new plans for no extra charge. Making it easy for users to switch and get even more data for less money. Unlike Cricket, GoPhone does not throttle your speeds at about 8Mbps. Making this a better plan than what Cricket offers – even though both are owned and run by AT&T.
If you are looking to switch to AT&T GoPhone, you are able to bring your own phone over. Since AT&T is running a GSM network, just about any unlocked device will work without any issues on GoPhone. If you are bringing a phone over from Asia or Europe, you’ll want to double check the bands to be sure it’s compatible (this is more important for phones from Asia than Europe). However, if you have the Google Pixel or Pixel XL, you can bring that over to AT&T GoPhone without any issue. All you need to do is simply pop in your SIM card.
