Within the last 24 hours, HTC introduced their latest smartphone, the HTC Bolt. This is one which is an exclusive for Sprint customers. However, if you are not so keen on the style, look or specs of the HTC Bolt, it does seem that Sprint has another option for you to consider now, the Kyocera DuraForce PRO. Unlike the HTC Bolt, the Kyocera DuraForce PRO is not exclusive to Sprint and was originally announced back in August of this year, which was then followed by the smartphone making its way to AT&T. As of today, it is now available via Sprint as well.
For those thinking about picking up the Kyocera DuraForce PRO, Sprint has now confirmed that the smartphone is available through installment billing over 24 months at a cost of $18 per month. Although it does also seem as though the Sprint website is offering the DuraForce PRO for only $99.99 on a 24-month contract. The $99.99 price is an online only price and represents the figure you pay after taking into account a mail-in rebate. Of course, those looking to simply buy the smartphone outright without any caveats, can do so through Sprint for $432.
In terms of the actual phone, and as is tradition with Kyocera, the DuraForce PRO is a smartphone that is designed to be ultra-rugged. Therefore, in addition to its IP68 waterproof certification (which means it can withstand submersion in water up to 2 meters for as much as 30 minutes), it is a smartphone that is also designed to be shockproof, drop-proof and dustproof. As well as being protected against extreme temperatures, low pressure, solar radiation, salt fog, and just about everything else you can think of. Which does make it an ideal solution for its intended audience – the more adventurous and outdoor types in need of a reliable and durable smartphone.
In terms of the more normal selling points, the DuraForce PRO comes equipped with a 5-inch Full HD display, while inside, the smartphone comes packing 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor. Cameras on offer include a 13-megapixel camera, along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The device is powered by a 3,240 mAh battery which does support Quick Charge 2.0, a fingerprint reader, Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and more.
