Huawei had introduced several high-end smartphones this year, and the Huawei P9 and Huawei P9 Plus were amongst the first ones to arrive. These two phones were introduced back in April, and were the first Huawei-branded devices to launch with Leica’s camera lenses. In any case, these two phones were, and still are, quite capable, and truth be told, we did not expect to see Huawei P10 leaks so soon, but such info started coming quite recently. The alleged Huawei P10 got benchmarked by GFXBench, and soon after that it surfaced in a couple of images.
If a GFXBench listing is anything to go by, the Huawei P10 will sport a 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of native storage. GFXBench reported that the phone will be fueled by the Kirin 960 64-bit octa-core processor, which is Huawei’s flagship SoC at the moment, and it comes with the Mali-G71 GPU for graphics. Having that in mind, some new info just surfaced, and it comes from Huawei’s Marketing Director for sub-Saharan Africa, Hawa Hyath. Mr. Hyath said that the Huawei P10 will land next year, despite the fact some rumors have been suggesting that it will arrive before the end of 2016. Mr. Hyath released such info during the AfricaCom 2016 conference in Cape Town. In addition to that, Mr. Hyath has revealed one rather important detail when it comes to the Huawei P10, he said that the phone will be fueled by the Kirin 960 SoC, just as we thought. In addition to all that, he has mentioned that the Huawei Mate 9 and Huawei Nova will come to South Africa in Q1 2017.
The Huawei P10 will, almost certainly, ship with Leica’s lenses as well, while we’re expecting Huawei to utilize Sony’s camera sensors yet again. If a recent leak is to be believed, the device will be made out of metal, and it will sport a physical home button / fingerprint scanner below the display. Both its power / lock and volume rocker physical keys will be placed on the right, which probably means that the SIM card tray will be included on the left-hand side of this phone. The leak suggested that we’ll get to see two rear-facing camera sensors yet again, and that is quite possible as well.
