The rumor mill on the Huawei P10 flagship has been going strong for almost half a year now. Earlier this month, there was not one, but two, separate leaks of Huawei’s upcoming smartphone, one which contained a single image of the phone’s rear cameras, and another one with alleged pictures of the device. Today, we’re much more interested in the former, as a set of alleged renders of the Huawei P10 was leaked on the Chinese microblogging website Weibo. As it turns out, the four new renders of Huawei’s upcoming flagship seemingly match the previously leaked image depicting the back of the device. Which does further lend support to these leaks being the real deal.
As you can see by looking at the latest renders, the Huawei P10 could launch in two versions – a regular one, and one sporting a dual-curved display. In other words, the Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer is seemingly continuing its two-variant flagship strategy which debuted with the Huawei Mate 9. If these renders are legit, the Huawei P10 will also boast a physical Home button located below its display, unlike the Huawei P9. Interestingly enough, these images also suggest the device will feature a fingerprint sensor on its back plate which contradicts the alleged prototype leak mentioned above, or at the very least implies the two variants of the upcoming flagship will differ in more than just display types.
However, one showcased feature consistent with the previous leaks is the dual-camera setup which Huawei manufactured in collaboration with Leica, a renowned German manufacturer of rangefinder cameras. Regarding other specs, the Huawei P10 is rumored to sport a 5.5-inch QHD display, the Huawei Kirin 960 system-on-chip, 6GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage complemented with a microSD card slot. Of course, Huawei will also likely offer cheaper variants with less internal memory and possibly less RAM. The Chinese tech giant’s upcoming flagship should land running Android 7.0 (Nougat) and maybe even the 7.1 version with Huawei’s EMUI v5.0 user interface. There’s still no word on an exact release date given how Huawei is yet to even officially announce the device, but the company’s previous flagship release pattern suggests we’ll see the Huawei P10 next spring.
