Sony is now beginning to roll out the Android 7.0 Nougat software update to the Xperia X Performance, one of its top-tier smartphones that was launched this year and announced back at the end of February during Mobile World Congress. This shouldn’t be much of a shock as Sony was already reportedly going to be starting the testing for Nougat on the Xperia X Performance, with news of the Xperia Beta Program being the outlet for this test software as of November 1st. Now that the software is starting to hit devices officially users will likely begin to see the update alerts roll in, although it is mentioned that the updates are still limited to only a few regions, and right now its only compatible with the Xperia X Performance devices that have model number F8131, and F8132 which is the Dual SIM version otherwise known as the Xperia Performance Dual.
So far, it hasn’t been mentioned which regions are seeing the update to Android 7.0 Nougat, and since this is limited to a select few there’s no telling how long it might take before it rolls out to all Xperia X Performance devices in the regions where the phone was made available for purchase.
For those that are starting to see the update come through, with Android 7.0 Nougat it means there will be a few nifty improvements added to the mix, such as multi-window, which is likely to be a favorite among many users who get their hands on it. Improved Doze Mode is also part of the equation and although Sony’s devices are already typically known to have great battery life, as they often tout 2-day battery life with their devices, a Doze Mode which works better than before will surely only improve the battery life more. It’s worth mentioning that this is just the first of the Sony Xperia devices to officially start receiving the update to Nougat, and currently it’s unclear which will be the next of Sony’s smartphones to see the new software, although it would make sense for Sony to push it to the Xperia XZ which was just recently launched, and is arguably Sony’s current flagship phone.
