The Galaxy Beta Program is designed so that select Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge users may get a taste of the latest version of Android, which is Android 7.0 Nougat. Samsung has rolled out three updates to participants of the program, and now, a fourth update has landed. The latest beta firmware being pushed to participants happens to be the smallest out of all the updates released when it comes to the contents in the changelog.
The latest update comes in the form of an OTA update with the firmware version G935FXXU1ZPLH for the Galaxy S7 Edge and the changes it brings includes the removal of the Samsung Notes app, which used to come pre-installed on the device. This comes after the Samsung Notes app received support for Android Nougat and if you would like to continue using the app, just head over to the Galaxy Apps store or the Google Play Store to download it. Also, if you do want to continue using it, download it before you download the fourth software update as all data in your Samsung Notes app will be deleted once the update is implemented. The software update also brings along bug fixes and other stability improvements, though Samsung has not made it specific. A pop-up warning regarding the deletion of the Samsung Notes apps will also appear, prompting you to back up your notes to your Samsung account before downloading the latest beta, so that you don’t lose your content.
According to SamMobile, there is also a pop-up notification which says that performance of the device has been improved with the latest beta, and Samsung has prioritized gaming and browsing performance in it. There is also no mention of Samsung Experience in the About device section of the smartphone. The update is being rolled out to users in the Galaxy Beta Program and it is 280 MB in size. If you haven’t received the notification prompting you to download the update, you can head over to Settings and tap on About Device. From there, select Software Update in the options and you will be able to download it manually.
