Android Nougat To Hit Several Moto Devices Soon

Android updates are a touchy issue for a lot of users. The media and consumers alike don’t like the slow pace of update rollouts, while the vendors and the carriers try to make sure that they fix all critical bugs before pushing out any new software to unsuspecting users. Of course, it doesn’t help that most manufacturers skin their Android interfaces heavily in order to distinguish, differentiate and demarcate their products from those of their competitors. While these changes offer added value, it does inevitably slow the update process down somewhat. However, one Android vendor that doesn’t believe in cramming their smartphones with a bloated UI is Motorola. Although the company is now a part of Chinese tech giant Lenovo and no longer operates as an independent smartphone manufacturer, the company has mostly stayed true to the laissez-faire attitude towards its Android interface.

Although that hasn’t always resulted in super-quick updates as many might have hoped for, the company still does a great job of updating its smartphones for the most part. Now that it’s time for Android 7.0 Nougat to hit more smartphones from a wide array of vendors from around the world, Motorola’s German unit has revealed the dates when some of the Moto devices will be updated to the all-new flavor of Android. Through a tweet on Tuesday, the company said that the update will hit the Moto Z-series on the 16th of this month, while the Moto G4 devices will apparently also get the update by the end of the year. The Moto X devices and the Nexus 6, meanwhile will all get Android Nougat next month if the tweet is anything to go by.

Talking about Motorola doing a relatively decent job of pushing out updates to its devices, the Moto Z Droid and the Moto Z Force Droid were both blessed with Android Nougat last month in the U.S. While only an incremental upgrade over Marshmallow for the most part, Android Nougat actually comes with some decent improvements over Android 6.0 in terms of battery optimization, multi-screen support and security features. Motorola has also introduced an all-new boot animation with Android 7.0 that is also expected to come to all its smartphones that are in line to receive the much-awaited update in the coming weeks.
