Google Pixel Owners Are Reporting Software Freezing Issues

Google Pixel owners are reporting software freezing issues with their devices. Over on the Google product forums a growing number of consumers who have purchased the Pixel or the Pixel XL are experiencing problems with their phones freezing up when using an app or just randomly without cause. While it is not uncommon for some phones to have issues with the software or even different features, as well as the hardware, the biggest selling point of the Pixel devices is Google’s special software experience that is more or less limited to these two phones, and the random software freezing is just the latest issue to spring up in a series of different problems that customers of the Pixel and Pixel XL have been reporting.

According to multiple users in the product forums, once the phone freezes up it seems to stay that way for up to a few minutes before responding, although not all users are experiencing the issue for that long of a period of time, with some noting that they’re phones are freezing for an extended number of seconds but still under a minute. Even still, any freezing at all let alone for several seconds or even minutes is something that consumers probably weren’t expecting from a device of this caliber, and one that has been positioned as a device of the highest quality when it comes to the software.

The silver lining perhaps, is that it seems Google knows about the problem. The unfortunate thing about that particular detail is that there is no mention of how long it will take the sort the problem out. As for the actual cause, there appears to be different reasons for the freezing happening. Some users are stating that their phones started freezing up when having an app called ‘Family Locator’ from Life360 installed, and that uninstalling it seemed to get rid of the problem. Other users who have never installed that app before are experiencing the problem too, so the app is apparently not the only cause. In addition to this latest problem, Pixel owners have had issues with the the audio, with Google is also working to correct, and even further back users were experiencing issues connecting to LTE Band 4, although the update to Android 7.1.1 Nougat has reportedly fixed that.
