Samsung’s latest iterations of the Galaxy A devices are seemingly close to a potential unveiling and a launch soon after, as they appear to have been shown off at a small event today in Iran, for which an invite leaked earlier this morning as well. This also follows leaked renders of the 2017 model of the Samsung Galaxy A3 which appeared online earlier this morning. Even with these leaks, though, there is no confirmation from Samsung about the devices, so none of the details can be considered official as of yet. With that said, the leaks happening so close in succession and the content of the leaks do suggest that Samsung may be preparing to globally announce the phones.
With this most recent leak, a collection of details about the devices has surfaced including specifications and images of the phones which show off the design. Like some of Samsung’s more recent phones, the Galaxy A 2017 series which includes the A3 the A5, and the A7, will all be IP68 certified, which means that they’ll be water-resistant at 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes, a continuing theme among many newer devices these days.
In addition to the IP68 rating, all three phones are making the switch to USB Type-C for the charging port. As Samsung already used this port for the Galaxy Note 7 it makes sense that they would start to transition other device lineups to USB Type-C as well. When it comes to batteries, Samsung is going with 3,000mAh, 3,300mAh, and 3,500mAh batteries for the Galaxy A3 2017, Galaxy A5 2017, and Galaxy A7 2017 respectively. All three batteries are also updates from the batteries in the previous models so it seems that Samsung wants to make sure that all three newer models have improved battery life. Based on the images, it looks like Samsung has given the 2017 line of Galaxy A devices a more rounded set of edges, and they also focus on the phones having “zero camera protrusion” so it seems clear that Samsung designed these models to be more stylish than before. In regards to the cameras, Samsung has reportedly chose to offer 16-megapixel front and rear sensors, so users will likely be getting some pretty decent shots from both sides of the phone whether they’re taking a selfie or snapping a regular picture.
