The Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro was officially unveiled in October and the device went down in the history books as Samsung’s first smartphone to accommodate 6 GB of RAM. The handset was announced for China in two different colors namely “Gold” and “Rose Gold”, but judging by a new leaked photo (below) passed along on the Chinese microblogging website Sina Weibo, Samsung might be preparing for the release of a new black flavor of the Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro.
A couple of days ago a Sina Weibo user in China shared an image of what appears to be a Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro in black. The smartphone’s back panel looks identical to the Gold and Rose Gold variant (sans the difference in color) and a sticker confirms that the handset is none other than the Galaxy C9 Pro carrying model number “SM-C9000”. The photo doesn’t reveal any other new details, and it remains to be seen whether or not the black variant will be launched outside of China. Speaking of which, Samsung’s “Galaxy C” series is usually reserved for the Chinese market and technically this should be no different for the Galaxy C9 Pro, however, following a recent Wi-Fi Alliance certificate for the device in question, recent rumors have also explored the possibility that the Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro could arrive in the United States eventually.
In any case, the Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro is a decently-equipped upper-mid-range smartphone wrapped in a metal case deserving of more color choices. It features a Qualcomm MSM8976 Snapdragon 653 system-on-chip (SoC), an Adreno 510 graphics chip, and 6GB of RAM under the hood, and sports a generous 6-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 leading to a pixel density of roughly 367 pixels per inch. It has 64GB of internal memory expandable via microSD by up to an additional 256GB, and photography enthusiasts owning the phone will rely on a 16-megapixel main camera with phase detection autofocus and an f/1.9 aperture, as well as a 16-megapixel front-facing sensor with the same f/1.9 aperture. The Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro is also equipped with a fingerprint recognition sensor embedded in the “home” button and carries a generous 4,000 mAh non-removable battery in a body measuring 162.9 x 80.7 x 6.9 millimeters and weighs in at 189 grams.
