Moto Z Play Running Android 7.0 Gains Wi-Fi Certification

The Motorola Moto Z Play is not the most powerful smartphone the company had introduced this year, it’s inferior to the Moto Z and Moto Z Force, but despite that, the Moto Z Play is one of the best mid-rangers available out there at the moment. Having that in mind, this smartphone is compatible with the Moto Mod accessories, and it resembles the Moto Z’s design quite a bit, so if you like the looks of the Moto Z, chances are you’ll like how the Moto Z Play look as well.

The Moto Z Play comes with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box, with some of the company’s features included on top, but as most of you know, this is an almost stock build of Android. In any case, the company had started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to the Moto Z, Moto Z Force, Moto G and Moto G4 Plus already, while Motorola also confirmed that the update will become available for the Moto M soon. Having that in mind, we started wondering when will the update land for the Moto Z Play? Well, it seems like the Moto Z Play will get Android 7.0 Nougat soon as well, as the variant of the phone with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed just got certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance. The Moto Z Play under the model number XT1635-02 is running Android 7.0 Nougat, and it has received its Wi-Fi certification, as you can see in the listing down below. This image is not revealing all that much info about the phone, aside from the fact it is running Android 7.0 Nougat, and that it supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi frequencies.

It is worth noting that the Moto X Play was spotted on GFXBench the other day with Android 7.0 Nougat as well, so it seems like last year’s, and this year’s Moto-branded ‘Play’ smartphone will get the update soon. It is possible Motorola will start rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat for both of those smartphones before the end of this year, but we’ll see. The Moto Z Play is made out of metal and glass, while it sports a 5.5-inch fullHD Super AMOLED display, The phone comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage, while it is fueled by the Snapdragon 625 64-bit octa-core processor.
