Motorola did not exactly introduce a ton of devices this year, but they did announce a handful of interesting ones. The Moto Z and Moto Z Force are the company’s most powerful offerings in 2016, while the Moto Z Play is their mid-range smartphone. The Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus are Motorola’s budget devices, and the Moto M which was announced in China last month definitely belongs in the mid-range category, and sits right next to the Moto Z Play. The Moto M handset was announced in India yesterday, and now Motorola released some additional info about this smartphone.
Motorola had announced, through their official Moto India Twitter handle, that the Moto M will start getting Android 7.0 Nougat soon. The Moto Z and Moto Z Force already received the Android 7.0 Nougat treatment, and it seems like the company’s mid-ranger will follow them soon. This info applies to both the Chinese and Indian variants of the device, of course, and unfortunately, Motorola did not release more info, they only said that the update is coming, but we still don’t know when, we’ll just have to wait and see. As some of you probably already know, Motorola does not heavily skin Android, they basically use Google’s iteration of Android, and add some of their features on top of it. All in all, this update will probably resemble the one available for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force smartphones.
The Moto M handset is made out of metal, and it sports a fingerprint scanner on the back. The device features a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED display, 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of expandable storage. The phone is fueled by either the Helio P10 or Helio P15 SoC, depending on where you purchase it. The 3,050mAh battery is also a part of this package, and so is fast charging. On the back of the Moto M, you’ll be able to find a 16-megapixel camera, while there’s an 8-megapixel snapper available on the front side of this smartphone. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Moto M, but as Motorola confirmed, the Android 7.0 Nougat update is coming soon.
