Huawei is not only one of the largest telecom equipment manufacturers in the world, it is also currently the second largest smartphone vendor in China after Oppo overtook it to claim the top spot for the first time during Q3 2016. Huawei, however, is still a brand in the ascendancy with an innovative portfolio and a brand power that’s on the rise globally, so it shouldn’t surprise anybody if the company regains its number one spot in the coming quarters, although it is sure to face a tough challenge from the likes of Oppo, Vivo and of course, Xiaomi. The company recently launched a premium smartphone called the Honor Magic, and if latest reports are anything to go by, a couple of new devices are apparently already in the pipeline for future release.
The upcoming smartphones are said to be part of the same series codenamed Honor Prague. Now, whether the devices will eventually be marketed under the same moniker is anybody’s guess, but they have both reportedly cleared the FCC, which lists the two models as PRA-LX1 and PRA-LX3 on its official website. While there’s not enough info regarding the hardware specs of either device right now, there are a few little details that the FCC listing does let out. For one, the devices are each expected to come with a 2,900mAh Li-Po battery and 3GB of RAM, with support for Bluetooth v4.2 and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. On the software front, a pdf document on the FCC website reveals that the upcoming device might come with Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box, which is certainly good news.
Beyond that, though, not a lot is known about the devices just as yet, but from what we could gather, the PRA-LX1 model has an FCC ID of QISPRALX1 and measures 147.2mm in length and 72.9mm in width. Although the measurements do seem to suggest a screen size of around 5.5-inches, it’s just pure speculation at this point in time, and we’ll have to wait for more info before anything can be said with certainty on that front. From one of the images posted on the FCC website, we can also see that the upcoming PRA-LX1 bucks the trend of dual rear cameras, sporting just the one image sensor at the rear alongside what seems to be an LED flash. The rear also houses a fingerprint scanner, something that’s becoming increasingly common even among entry-level devices these days.
