LeEco’s Le Pro 3 is currently getting an OTA right now, that basically cleans up the EUI (their name for their Android overlay), and makes things a bit more pretty. Additionally, it brings in a slew of minor bug fixes and performance enhancements. The update is version 5.8.020S, and while it’s not Android Nougat, it is still an update that owners of the device are going to appreciate.
Some of the changes that are being made in this update to the Le Pro 3 include adding new badges to apps on the home screen for notifications (similar to what iOS currently does). It also drops the empty subject banners in SMS, reduces Bluetooth scanning periods, camera improvements and some app permission tweaks. So this update not only helps make the UI better, but with the reduced Bluetooth scanning period, it should also improve the battery life on the device. Which is also an important area to improve on. For what it’s worth, the Google Mobile Services package has also been updated for “increased stability”.
The Le Pro 3 is the higher-end of the two devices that the company brought to the US a few months ago. The Le Pro 3 and Le S3 are the company’s first smartphones to debut in the US, and given the vastly different tastes in UI between Asia and North America, it’s nice to see LeEco cleaning up EUI a bit more to appease their US customers. This update has not yet made its way out to the Le S3, but it should be available rather soon.
For those that are unaware, the Le Pro 3 sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processor along with 4GB of RAM. It has 64GB of storage, and is running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. LeEco has also included a non-removable 4070mAh battery, which is the largest for any 5.5-inch device in the US currently, which should also provide great battery life for users already. If you haven’t received the update already, just head on into Settings > About Phone > Check for updates, and you should be able to pull it down. It’s a relatively small update.
