Report: LG’s CES 2017 Lineup Includes New K & X Smartphones

With CES 2017 fast approaching, many will be waiting to see what some of the big-name manufacturers have on offer at the event. While most of the details will be kept under wraps until the time comes, a new report out of VentureBeat today states they have received information on which smartphones LG will be announcing at CES 2017.

According to the details coming through (and reportedly based on marketing material seen by VentureBeat), there will be four new additions to the LG K line of smartphones. These will consist of the 2017 versions of the LG K3, the LG K4, the LG K8 and the LG K10. With the notable differences being the screen size, cameras and battery. According to the information, the 2017 LG K3 will come equipped with a 4.5-inch display, a 5-megapixel and 2-megapixel rear/front camera combo and a 2,100 mAh battery. The 2017 LG K4 will come equipped with a slightly larger 4.7-inch display, 8-megapixel and 5-megapixel rear/front camera combo and a 2,500 mAh battery. The 2017 LG K8 continues the upwards trend with a 5-inch display (said to be HD), a 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel rear/front camera combo and the same 2,500 mAh battery capacity. While the largest of the new K smartphones will be the 2017 LG K10 which comes loaded with a 5.3-inch HD display, 2.5D glass (back and front), a fingerprint sensor, and a 5-megapixel wide-angle front camera.

In addition to the K-range, The LG X range is also said to be getting two new models. These will be the LG X power 2 and the LG X calibur. Consistent with its predecessor, the LG X power 2 is looking to be a more powerful device and will come equipped with a 5.5-inch HD display, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and a 4,500 mAh battery. While the LG X calibur is said to be a more durable smartphone, which in addition to containing a 4,100 mAh battery will also come with an IP68 water and dust-resistance certification. As well as a military-standard build quality. Last but not least, the report also does detail that LG will introduce a new stylus-touting model in the form of the LG Stylus 3. This one is said to come loaded with a 5.7-inch display, 32GB internal storage, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, a fingerprint sensor, a 3,200 mAh battery, and of course, a stylus.

As mentioned, the majority of these smartphones are said to be unveiled at CES 2017 which will take place in the early part of January. However, the current report does detail that the LG X power 2 will not be on show at CES and instead will make its debut at MWC 2017, later in the year. While the latest information also looks to confirm that the LG Stylus 3 will arrive in the US as the ‘LG Stylo 3 Plus’. Lastly, the report concludes by noting that the first of the devices to hit the market will be the four new K-models which will begin to ship midway through January. This will then be followed by a February release of the LG Stylus 3, a March release of the LG X calibur and an April release of the MWC-announced LG X power 2.
