Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy C5 Pro made its way through TENAA just recently, and is now officially certified to make use of Wi-Fi technology by the organization behind it. The certification covers the full range of contemporary Wi-Fi technologies that one would expect to see on a modern handset, and puts the Galaxy C5 Pro one step closer to its big official reveal. The aforementioned big official reveal will supposedly be happening on January 21st, with no word on whether the phone will make it to CES. Given that it’s a new member of the Galaxy C family, specifically made for the Chinese market, its presence at the show in America, as well as a release anywhere else, is a bit on the unlikely side.
The Galaxy C5 Pro, and its sibling, the Galaxy C7 Pro, first broke cover in rumors back in September. Now nearly ready for launch, this certification comes hot on the heels of the Galaxy C7 Pro making its way through TENAA and getting its own Wi-Fi certification. These upgrades to the Samsung Galaxy C lineup have been in the public eye for a good few months now, and this recent round of certifications makes that projected January 21st release date look quite plausible.
For a refresher, the Galaxy C5 Pro is supposed to feature a gold-colored, metallic body, with a look that pays some homage to Apple’s recent iPhones and HTC’s phone lineup. Behind the 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 screen, the phone boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 chip, paired up with 4 gigabytes of RAM, and a 64 gigabyte internal storage capacity that can be bolstered by a MicroSD card. A 3,000mAh, non-removable battery is set to keep the lights on. A 16-megapixel camera sits on the back of the device, while another camera with the same resolution takes care of selfie duty. The whole package runs on a modified version of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, with all of Samsung’s usual TouchWiz trappings and a few custom bits and bobs for a Chinese audience. It should launch in pink, gold, and dark blue, alongside the Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro, with the newest members of Samsung’s Galaxy A family quite possibly launching shortly before or after.
