Samsung’s Creative Lab (C-Lab) has been promoting creativity in the company’s culture for over four years now, which resulted in some innovative solutions and numerous new startups. Earlier this year, this division of the Seoul-based tech giant made a lot of waves at CES 2016, and Samsung just confirmed that C-Lab will be back to promote its latest projects during CES 2017.
In a press release published on Monday, the South Korean consumer electronics manufacturer announced three new C-Lab projects slated to debut next week in Las Vegas: Tag+, S-Skin, and Lumini. Tag+ is an Internet of Things gadget intended to ennoble traditional toys. The device is designed as a robust button that kids can click, hold, shake, or bump with another Tag+ to get various reactions from its dedicated companion app. Speaking in simple terms, the main idea behind Tag+ is to keep children occupied without constantly buying new toys.

The second C-Lab project is a tool called Lumini, a piece of hardware designed to assist people in detecting skin problems and preemptively dealing with them. Speaking in less abstract terms, Lumini is a portable camera that connects to your smartphone, scans your face, and suggests appropriate skin products for your humble self, in addition to giving you makeup tips. Apart from that, the Lumini companion app allows you to quickly contact a dermatologist for advice in case you encounter a problem that Samsung’s IoT solution can’t fix.

The last C-Lab product slated to debut next week in Las Vegas is called S-Skin. Samsung envisioned S-Skin as a personalized skincare assistant capable of replacing a number of professional dermatological services. In addition to an IoT device for analyzing one’s skin, this solution consists of a microneedle patch people can apply to their face, as well as a dedicated companion app which keeps track of your skincare routine. The S-Skin scanner utilizes a LED light to measure the redness, hydration, and melanin of a person’s skin. The S-Skin companion app then uses that information to suggest an appropriate treatment. More details on these upcoming products should follow shortly as Samsung will showcase all three of them at CES 2017, which is slated to start next Thursday, January 5th.
