It’s been an interesting past week in the world of Android, and as 2016 begins to draw to a close soon, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that we’re starting to see leaks for new phones that may be launching in the beginning of the new year. While it isn’t known for sure just yet what the phone is, a new, unreleased device from Motorola and Lenovo has popped up recently that is suspected to be the new Moto X. There are some familiar elements in the design that seem to take after the Moto Z, like the large camera module on the back, but it also has a design all it’s own. In addition to the leaked Moto device, it was stated by Motorola that there are no plans for a new smartwatch right now, which could mean that a Moto 360 2nd Gen replacement will be absent from 2017 just as it was this year.
AT&T also launched DIRECTV NOW this past week, and alongside it they launched the Android app so subscribers are able to stream their content on the go as well as at home. This past week also saw another new rumor regarding the Samsung Galaxy S8, which suggests that the device will come with a front-facing camera that has an autofocus feature. The Motorola CEO mentioned that the Moto Z might end up with Tango support through the addition of new Moto Mod, and this past week also saw the Seattle-based office of Cyanogen Inc. close down while Co-Founder Steve Kondik is also no longer part of the company.
