LG’s “Ideal Smartphone” video may be teasing the G6. While there are a few rumors already swirling around the company’s next flagship device, which is likely to be announced during Mobile World Congress next month, a new video which has been posted up to the LG Mobile Global YouTube channel asks consumers on the street what they would want in an ideal smartphone. More specifically, it asks for a wishlist of features that they would want the phone to have. The video rolls through a handful of responses from various individuals (seemingly random) before finishing on a phone shaped outline filled with a list of words like big screen and waterproof.
While none of the specifications and hardware can be confirmed just yet, a big display on the LG G6 is certainly a strong possibility considering LG’s recent announcement on creating a 5.7-inch QHD+ Super Wide LCD display. It’s also been rumored that the LG G6 could feature a 5.3-inch display, so it’s still unclear as to which screen size the company may go with. In the video, a few people mention having a big screen but not a big phone, so that could signify that LG is looking to release the G6 with a bigger screen to body ratio than the LG G5 without making the actual body of the phone too much larger.
While a 5.7-inch screen is certainly possible, it’s also worth considering that LG may be hinting at a smaller screen size in this video. A few people mention using the device in one hand and having a phone that doesn’t fall out of your hands easily, and a device with a 5.7-inch screen is less likely to fit those particular characteristics. Of course, if LG is able to make the scree bigger without making the phone itself bigger then a smaller screen may not actually be on the horizon for this device. People also express concerns over paying for a replacement device due to a cracked screen, suggesting that they want a more durable and reliable phone, so LG could unveil a more durable flagship this year as well. It’s rumored that LG will launch the G6 on March 10th which would follow a Mobile World Congress announcement, so actual details may not be far off.
