Rumor: Xiaomi Mi 6 To Launch In March, Pricing Info Leaks

Xiaomi’s co-founder and VP, Li Wanqiang, was attending the Geek Park innovation conference quite recently, and during the conference, he said that Xiaomi is preparing a surprise for us, and that we’ll find out what it is in March. Well, he did not specifically say that we can expect the Xiaomi Mi 6 to land in March, but he did, indirectly, pointed in that direction. He also hinted that the upcoming product will cost around 1,999 Yuan ($290), which is quite probably Xiaomi Mi 6’s pricing (base model), as it was for the Xiaomi Mi 5 as well.

In addition to the details that Xiaomi’s co-founder shared, a new rumor surfaced in China, and seemingly revealed more info about the Xiaomi Mi 6. According to the leaked info, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will be made out of metal, and it will sport an Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner. The rumor also claims that the phone will ship with an upgraded camera sensor, which makes sense and pretty much everyone expects it to happen, unfortunately, though, it was not revealed as to what sensor can we expect to see on the device. This rumors also says that we’ll see two variants of the Xiaomi Mi 6, one variant will ship with a flat display, while the other one will sport a curved display, just like a recent rumor suggested. The flat display variant of the device is said to cost 1,999 Yuan ($290, base model), while the curved screen model will cost 2,499 Yuan ($363) if this rumor is to be believed.

The device’s production has not been concluded if the source is to be believed, which is why we probably won’t see it released in February. The phone could arrive in March, though, as the company’s VP hinted. If the previous info is to be believed, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC, Qualcomm’s flagship SoC which was introduced during CES 2017. The phone variant with a flat display will allegedly ship with 4GB of RAM, while the curved screen model is said to sport 6GB of RAM on the inside. The 3,000mAh battery is also expected to be a part of the Xiaomi Mi 6 package, and Android Nougat will come pre-installed, quite probably with MIUI 8 on top, as MIUI 9 is nowhere close to being released at the moment.
