Rumor: Xiaomi's Mi 6 Flagship To Launch In Mid-March

According to a new rumor, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will launch in mid-March, and its trial production will kick off in February. Now, this timeframe aligns with the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona, as Xiaomi is expected to introduce the Xiaomi Mi 6 during the tradeshow. Presuming that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will launch in mid-March, as in become available then, it is quite possible we’ll see it announced at the end of February during MWC 2017. This also makes sense because its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi 5, was introduced during MWC 2016.

Now, if a recent leak is to be believed, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will arrive in three different variants, the Xiaomi Mi 6 Premier, the Xiaomi Mi 6 Standard and the Xiaomi Mi 6 Youth, though these are all working titles, it is possible they’ll be named differently. In any case, the Xiaomi Mi 6 Standard is said to be the most powerful Mi 6 handset, it is expected to sport an OLED QHD display with curved sides, ceramic body, 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC. This handset will also, allegedly, come with a dual camera setup, and 256GB of native storage. The Xiaomi Mi 6 Standard will be similar to the Xiaomi Mi 6 Premier, but it won’t sport a ceramic body (Xiaomi will opt for glass instead, most probably), and it will ship with ‘only’ 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Xiaomi Mi 6 Youth is said to be most affordable Mi 6 smartphone, as it will be fueled by the Helio X30 SoC, and sport 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage.

Now, if a recent leak is to be believed, the most affordable Xiaomi Mi 6 smartphone will cost 1,999 Yuan ($291) in China, while the Xiaomi Mi 6 Standard is said to cost 2,499 Yuan ($364). The most expensive Xiaomi Mi 6 model will set you back 2,999 Yuan ($437), if the leaked info is to be believed. The Xiaomi Mi 6 will ship with Android Nougat out of the box, and chances are Xiaomi will include their MIUI 8 OS instead of the MIUI 9 OS which has not been released yet, and chances are it won’t be ready by the time Xiaomi Mi 6 lands, but we’ll see.
