The Honor 8 Lite could launch in the beginning of March according to a new leak which not only mentions the possible launch time frame, but also a price point that Honor could be setting for its customers. The leak suggests that with a possible announcement at Mobile World Congress next month, the company could look to launch the device in the couple of weeks that follow the event. What’s more is that the leak suggests the cost of this new phone would be €280 for the European market. There is unfortunately no mention of the device cost in the U.S. nor was there any mention of a U.S. launch. That being said the original Honor 8 is available to purchase in the U.S. so there is every reason to believe that the Lite version would make its way to the region as well, and based on the starting cost of the Honor 8 in Europe when it launched, which was €399, it’s possible that the Honor 8 Lite in the U.S. will come in at $280 USD.
In addition to the leaked European price and potential launch time frame, a handful of images have leaked showing off what the Honor 8 Lite presumably looks like. These appear to be press renders of the phone with a flip cover case on it sporting the Honor branding, which could mean that the case either comes with the phone or it’s simply going to be an optional purchase that customers will be able to get their hands on.
Based on the leaks the phone looks just like the standard model Honor 8 which is to be expected, as the design usually doesn’t change when it comes to Lite models. There are some differences though, as the Honor 8 Lite seems to carry a micro USB port for charging and data transfer instead of using USB Type-C like the original model. There is also just one single camera sensor on the back of the device instead of two, so while the software for the camera may be mostly the same, the Honor 8 Lite is likely to be missing some of the camera functionality that can be found on the standard device that Honor launched last year. Honor is also said to be launching the Honor 8 Lite in four colors, one of which can be seen in the image leaks, a Blue color, which will be available alongside Black, White, and Gold options.
