Top 10: Android News Stories – January 15th, 2017

Lots has happened in the world of Android and tech this past week and although CES is over and much of the excitement from new devices has passed, there’s still quite a bit worth mentioning that you may have missed and want to catch up on. Just a few days ago HTC held their announcement event for the all new HTC U line of devices which included announcements for the HTC U Ultra, as well as the HTC U Play, both of which come to the table with a noticeable HTC style, but also a colorful look and some decent features, one of which is the dual display on the HTC U Ultra that works similar to the secondary display on the LG V20.

New phones aside, if you’re an Android Wear enthusiast and you’re eagerly awaiting the latest version of the software, then you’ll be happy to know that you won’t have to wait long as it was just announced this past week that Android Wear 2.0 will be released to compatible smartwatches in early February. This means that it’s just a few weeks away, although there was still no exact date mentioned. While official yet, a new SHIELD portable device from NVIDIA seems to have passed through the FCC which suggests that the company may be producing a successor to the old model. YouTube also launched a new feature this past week called Super Chat, aimed at live broadcasts and designed to allow users a way to pay a certain amount to have their comments appear more visible and set apart from regular comments.
