Twitter's 'Moments' Tab Being Replaced with 'Explore'

Twitter appears to be changing their mind about Moments, and it’s no longer a big part of their feature-set. They are getting rid of the Moments tab and replacing it with the Explore tab which will house search, trending topics and Moments all in one place. This is going to make it easier for users to keep in touch with what is going on in the world, and also search through Twitter for different things. This change is live right now in an updated version of the Twitter app that is available for both Android and iOS.

The social media company has been testing this change to the Moments tab for quite some time, and now it’s finally rolling out to everyone. It is aimed at making it easier for users to explore different moments, but also keep tabs on trending topics and search. Instead of these three things being in separate places on the Twitter user interface. In their blog post announcing the change, Twitter stated that they’ve been testing different ways to make it easier to browse through moments, trending topics and search inside the Twitter app, and this is what they have come up with. It’ll likely see another change in the near future, as Twitter is always looking at ways to make the app a bit more user friendly as well as getting users to use the app a bit more.

You can download the updated Twitter app from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store right now, and check out the new Explore tab. Now the tab has a search icon instead of a lightning bolt. Additionally, this tab should appear in countries that do not have Moments just yet (Moments aren’t rolled out worldwide yet), but you’ll be missing the Moments from the Explore tab. Everything in the Explore tab will be based on your interests as well as where you live. For instance, if you live in Boston, you may see some stuff about the Celtics game, or even the Patriots as they prepare for Super Bowl 51, which takes place next weekend.
