HTC has just launched two new smartphones in India, the HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play. The company teased the arrival of the HTC U Ultra yesterday, but there was no mention of the HTC U Play, well, both devices are now official in India, following their global launch last month. That being said, these two devices are identical to their global counterparts, in case you were wondering, read on.
The HTC U Ultra is HTC’s all-new flagship. This smartphone comes with two displays, its main 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) panel, and a secondary 2.0-inch display which sits above the main one. This phone sports 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage, while it is fueled by the Snapdragon 821 SoC. A 12-megapixel UltraPixel 2 snapper (1.55um pixel size) is placed on the back of this phone, and a 16-megapixel shooter can be found on the front side of this device. A 3,000mAh battery is included on the inside of the HTC U Ultra, and it comes with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. There are two SIM card slots inside of the HTC U Ultra (2 x nano SIM), and we’re looking at a hybrid setup here, which means you can use one of those SIM card slots to expand the device’s internal storage. Android 7.0 Nougat comes pre-installed on the HTC U Ultra, and HTC’s Sense UI comes installed on top of it. HTC’s BoomSound makes a comeback here, as you’ll be able to enjoy Hi-Fi sound and also 3D audio recording.
The HTC U Play is HTC’s new mid-ranger, it features a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Super LCD display, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. This phone is fueled by the Helio P10 64-bit octa-core processor, and a 2,500mAh battery is also a part of this package. A 16-megapixel camera is placed on the back of this phone, and a 16-megapixel shooter is placed on the phone’s front side. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the phone, along with HTC’s Sense UI. This phone also features a hybrid dual-SIM setup, and a fingerprint scanner is placed below the phone’s display, same as in the HTC U Ultra.
The HTC U Ultra comes in Brilliant Black, Cosmetic Pink and Sapphire Blue color variants. The device is priced at Rs. 59,990 ($896) and will be available starting from March 6th. The HTC U Play will be available in Iceberg White, Indigo Blue, Black Oil and Cosmic Pink Gold for Rs. 39,990 ($597) starting from mid-March. If you purchase either of these two phones in India, you’ll get a one-year insurance which covers liquid damage and any other physical damage to these two devices.
