Mastercard and Oracle have just announced their global partnership at Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona. We’ve already seen tons of various announcement at this year’s Mobile World Congress, headlined by the LG G6, Huawei’s P10 flagships and Sony’s Xperia XZ Premium smartphone. Well, Mastercard and Oracle have decided to board the train and share with the world that the two companies will work together on a global basis in order to deliver “seamless payments” to consumers.
These digital payments will put focus to the retail and hospitality industries, said Mastercard. At first, they’ll focus on restaurants, hotels and retail stores. The two companies will develop and scale enhanced in-store payments including Qkr! With MasterPass. For those of you who don’t know, this is a mobile app using which you can seamlessly order and pay for good and services by using your smartphone. The two companies will offer retailers a chance to benefit from their integrated digital payment, which is extremely secure, says Mastercard. We’re talking about Mastercard Payment Gateway Services here, which will be integrated with the app and the whole payment process. By integrating MasterPass into Oracle products, retailers will be able to provide a simple check-out experience to their consumers.
Mastercard said that they’re currently working with a number of joint partners, together with Oracle, partners such as wagamama, Carluccio’s, Young & Co.s Brewery and Geronimo Pubs. Aforementioned companies are already using Qkr to let their customers order various items during meals, pay at the table and also split the bill with others if that’s something they want to do. Throughout 2017, Mastercard plans to expand their Qkr platform to six new markets, Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Singapore, South Africa and the United States. Customers will be able to use Mastercard’s Qkr platform in order to pay for good and services, of course, no matter if we’re talking about payments for gas at gas stations, parking fees or perhaps for tickets at sports arenas. There you have it, Mastercard is expanding its Qkr platform, and this partnership with Oracle might benefit both companies moving forward, though we’ll see what happens in 2017.
