A number of new smartphones have already been announced at MWC 2017 and a bunch of them came with Nokia branding. In total, four Nokia-branded smartphones have been announced so far at the event, with the Nokia 6 seemingly positioned as the leading actor. While the Nokia 6 was announced during MWC, it is not the first time that it has been officially introduced. As the Nokia 6 had already been announced and released in China. Although the difference this time, is that the Nokia 6 has now been confirmed as launching globally.
In many ways, the Nokia 6 is all about simplicity. This goes for both the design and the software. While many smartphone have opted for unique design traits and features, the Nokia 6 does not. Instead, this is a unibody smartphone with a very unassuming design. In fact, you would be pushed to really identify anything in particular that makes this phone look unique. Although, that seems almost to be the point here, with the Nokia 6 positioned as a solid and good-performing device. Nothing more and nothing less. Likewise, the software follows the same sort of tone, as the Nokia 6 comes running a very lightweight version of Android, with next to no additions included.
On paper, the Nokia 6 is easily the most spec-heavy of the recently announced Nokia Android smartphones. In terms of the display, the Nokia 6 is loaded with a 5.5-inch screen which makes use of a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Inside, the Nokia 6 will be available in a couple of variants which differ in RAM (3GB or 4GB) and internal storage (32GB or 64GB). Although, all variants do come powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor. Moving to the camera side of things and the Nokia 6 comes packing a 16-megapixel rear camera, along with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Additional features include a fingerprint sensor, a 3,000 mAh battery and Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) out of the box.
For those hoping to pick up a Nokia 6 in the near future, although MWC 2017 did mark the global launch of the smartphone, firm details on when the Nokia 6 will become available outside China have yet to be provided. Instead, a Q2 2017 expected release time is all that has been confirmed so far. In the meantime though, you can take a closer look at the Nokia 6, thanks to our MWC 2017 hands-on images below.
