Google’s Daydream and Tango ecosystems are already pretty great, but Google announced today that you’ll be able to watch Sky VR content on your Daydream View, walk through your Sims’ houses in The Sims Freeplay on Tango, use the Chelsea Kicker app to take pictures and trade shots with a realistically rendered Chelsea player, and use a Tango version of the Wall Street Journal to visualize the rise and fall of stocks with the real world as a backdrop. The new content coming to both platforms is already available through the Play Store for all users, so long as you happen to have a device that supports it. The list of Tango handsets is currently limited to the Lenovo PHAB 2 PRO and the ASUS ZenFone AR for now, while the list of Daydream-compatible handsets is a bit longer, with popular devices like the Google Pixel and Lenovo Moto Z.
Sky VR brings a wealth of new content to watch into Daydream users’ virtual worlds. Sky VR brings a wide range of 360 degree, VR-friendly videos from big name partners like Disney, who have provided clips from The Jungle Book, and a look at Star Wars stars’ time on the red carpet. The app is free, and can even be used with a Cardboard-compliant headset for those without a Daydream View, or even with no headset at all, though there are Daydream-specific enhancements you’ll be missing out on.
The Sims Freeplay in AR via Tango brings you all the craziness of your usual Sims game, but with you right in the middle of the action. You can walk around the house and watch your Sims up close and personal, or furnish your virtual home as if it were your real one. Wall Street Journal VR, meanwhile, overlays stocks against the real world and lets you utilize Tango’s special features to switch up your perspective, giving you a better idea of just how the market trends look. Finally, Chelsea Kicker puts a Chelsea player in your home via your screen, and lets you take photos with them, try soccer feats side by side with them, and generally watch them do their thing right there in your personal space thanks to the magic of augmented reality.
