Android Nougat is heading out to the Galaxy S7 Active as a comment from one customer on the AT&T community forums has noted that the update is live on the AT&T servers as of today, after asking last week when the update might become available for Galaxy S7 Active users. This is just a few weeks after AT&T began sending out the updates for Android Nougat to both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, as well as the LG G5, which the carrier started pushing out as of February 20th.
With the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active moving on up from Marshmallow to Nougat, there are plenty of changes, improvements, and new features for users of the device to look forward to, though anything that is or might be specific to the Galaxy S7 Active is not known just yet as AT&T doesn’t seem to have posted an official changelog at this point in time. With that being said, there are features that every device on Nougat will get so the Galaxy S7 Active will see things like multi-window, app shortcuts, and more once the update has completed and the software has been installed.
The update file is said to weigh in at around 1.5GB which is a pretty big file to download over a cellular network, so as always it’s recommended that subscribers who own this device connect up to Wi-Fi before they initiate the download for the software update file. In addition to that having at least half battery life is a good idea as well as the process keeps the screen awake and is sure to drain the battery down a significant amount during the time it takes to finalize. While the update may actually be showing up for some AT&T subscribers with this phone, it isn’t likely to show up for all Galaxy S7 Active users today, though you can still check to see if the update is available manually by navigating to the settings menu, then to about phone and pressing the software updates option to see if the file shows up as available. If you aren’t too concerned about the update you can simply wait until you receive an alert to install it.
