Best Android News Stories – March 26th, 2017

This past week was a big week for Android with all of the leaks, many of which revolved around Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, but also because Google officially revealed the existence of Android O, which led to the installation of the software by a number of users and the discovery of the changes to expect when the software is finally pushed out to the public. While Google officially revealed Android O this past week, they also made it available for developers and eager users to flash to their devices in the first Developer Preview. Google says there will be four Developer Previews in total, before finally releasing Android O to all users in a stable build sometime in Q3 of this year.

When it comes to devices, Samsung revealed a concept hybrid smartwatch that is basically a pocket watch, which they revealed at Baselword 2017, where Fossil also announced that they would be releasing a wide range of new smartwatch devices across their various brands. LG G6 pre-orders for T-Mobile started shipping to buyers this past week as well which means that users are already starting to get their new phones. Huawei started pushing out the Amazon Alexa software update to the Mate 9 devices this past week, and Lenovo’s Moto G5 Plus finally went on sale in the U.S. On the software side of things, Super Mario Run was finally launched for Android devices earlier in the week and a full day prior to Nintendo’s original planned release date, and Samsung unveiled some official details about Bixby, their upcoming digital assistant that’s scheduled to launch with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.
