HTC has started the Nougat update for the European One A9 models, so those who have this version of the device will want to keep an eye out for the software update as it could be landing on their device as soon as today, if it hasn’t already shown up. That being said, if the update alert hasn’t landed for your device just yet, you can as always check manually to see if the update is available for you to download by navigating to the settings menu on the phone and then tapping on about phone, and software updates.
It isn’t listed how big the file size for the update is but if it’s anything like the Android 7.0 Nougat update that went out to Sprint users back in the middle of February, then users with the European model should expect the download file to be at least 1.8GB in size, though it’s also possible that it could be smaller or larger as there are bound to be some parts of the Sprint update that were only meant for the Sprint model of the phone. Although Wheeler doesn’t give any specifics in regards to carriers, carrier versions of the European One A9 are part of the update process as is the unlocked model for the region.
Since this is Android Nougat software users should expect all of the goodies that have been available to other devices that have already been updated to this version of Android, like Multi-Window, and an improved version of Doze Mode, as well as HTC specific features like the latest version of Sense and other features that are only going to be meant for HTC devices, though there wasn’t any detail given out by Wheeler in general about the changes. This update also includes the February Android Security Patch, which is mostly up to date but still a little bit behind as quite a few phones are already working with the March Security Patch that Google pushed out earlier this month. As with other HTC updates, the Nougat software should hit devices over-the-air but it should also be available to flash or install manually.
