The Moto G5 Plus is due to become available in a new blue color, according to known tipster, Roland Quandt. Presumably, this is going to be ‘Sapphire Blue’ as this leak follows on from the leak that came through yesterday, detailing that the normal Moto G5 was due to become available in Sapphire Blue. A leak which also came from Roland Quandt. With both leaks now coming through, from the same source, and with images to support them (the one above said to be the Moto G5 Plus), then it does seem likely that the information is correct and the Moto G5 and the G5 Plus will both be available in blue.
However, neither today’s tip or yesterday’s, provides any real information on when this will likely become an option to buy. Likewise, there is no information on whether this will be a generally available color, a limited-edition color, or a color which will be limited to select regions. For instance, the Moto site in the US is still only listing the existing colors as official colors. If correct, the blue color will join the colored array of options currently available for both the Moto G5 and G5 Plus, which are Lunar Grey and Fine Gold.
For those considering picking up either of these devices in blue, and wondering what the difference is between them – the Moto G5 Plus is considered to be the more premium option. For starters, it is a little larger coming equipped with a 5.2-inch display (compared to the Moto G5’s 5-inch display). Although both displays offer the same 1920 x 1080 resolution. Inside, the Moto G5 is available in either a 2GB or 3GB RAM variant with either 16GB or 32GB storage. While the G5 Plus is available in a 2GB or 4GB variant with either 32GB or 64GB storage. The Moto G5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core SoC, while the G5 Plus comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC. In terms of cameras, the Moto G5 comes loaded with a 13-megapixel rear camera with an ƒ/2.0 aperture, while the G5 packs in a better 12-megapixel rear camera with an ƒ/1.7 aperture. Although both make use of the same 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Batteries differ a little with the Moto G5 packing a 2,800 mAh battery and the G5 Plus loaded with a 3,000 mAh battery. Although both models come running on Android 7.0 (Nougat) out of the box. Needless to say, there is no indication that the blue variant of either model will differ in any of these aspects – it will just be a new color to choose from.
