Micromax Teases New Smartphone Launch Event On March 29

India-based smartphone manufacturer Micromax is gearing up for an upcoming launch event set on March 29. Although an exact date has not been outright mentioned by Micromax, the company recently launched a handful of teaser images and GIFs via Twitter, all of which seem to hint at a new dual-camera smartphone being prepared for a March 29 debut. The smartphone could be the so-called Micromax ‘E4815’ spotted previously in a couple of leaked photos, or it may very well be another device powered by different internals.

Micromax’s official Twitter page currently shows a teaser image of a mathematical calculation ‘(13)^3=2197 March’ with the numbers two and nine being highlighted in the same color as the word ‘March’. This suggests that the company intends to showcase a new product on March 29, and the rest of the formula could indicate that the smartphone is equipped with three 13-megapixel cameras. Indeed, other teaser images suggest that the company’s upcoming smartphone will have a dual camera setup on the back, but it’s worth noting that the mysterious Micromax smartphone spotted in previously leaked images seemed to accommodate a 13-megapixel main camera along with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor on the back while featuring a 5-megapixel front-facing unit. Regardless, assuming that the upcoming Micromax smartphone is the same as the one identified by model number ‘E4815’, rumors hint at a 5.5-inch display, a MediaTek MT6750T System-on-Chip featuring eight CPU cores (same as the new LG Stylo 3), 3GB of RAM, as well as 32GB of internal storage expandable via a microSD card slot. The handset is also said to support 4G VoLTE and possibly a fingerprint scanner embedded within the physical home button.

Regardless of how the next Micromax-made smartphone will look like, it’s worth mentioning that the company’s upcoming launch event will take place on the same day as Samsung’s Unpacked event where the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be officially introduced. Chances are that the upcoming Micromax device won’t compete directly with Samsung’s flagship, but given the exact same launch dates, there is a possibility that Micromax might plan to introduce its next smartphone as a budget-friendlier alternative to the Samsung Galaxy S8, which will undeniably hit the shelves along with a premium price tag.
