At Mobile World Congress 2017, HTC didn’t exactly announce any new smartphones, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have any smartphones to show off. Of course, they are showing off their new flagships that were announced back in January, the HTC U Play and U Ultra, but they are also showing off the HTC Desire 10 Pro. The Taiwanese company announced this smartphone back in November of last year for India, so it’s not a smartphone that you’ll see on the store shelves here in the US, and in fact it might be the last Desire device, seeing as HTC are skipping out on the low-end and mid-range segment now.
The HTC Desire 10 Pro is actually a high mid-range device, being in the higher portion of the mid-range segment. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p display on the front, with the MediaTek Helio P10 along with 4GB of RAM. HTC has also included 64GB of storage and have also added in a micro SD card slot, allowing you to add up to another 256GB of storage. That’s plenty of storage for just about everyone. This is powered by a 3000mAh non-removable battery. And given the very power efficient chipset inside, the Desire 10 Pro should actually last quite a while before needing another charge.
Now perhaps the bigger deal with the HTC Desire 10 Pro is the cameras on this device. As you can see in the gallery below, the Desire 10 Pro has a fairly large camera on the back of the device. That is a 20-megapixel camera with an aperture of f/2.2. Below it you’ll find the dual LED flash, along with laser autofocus, which is going to help with focusing in on objects faster and allowing the camera to snap a photo faster. This is especially evident in low-light. Now HTC didn’t forget about those that love to take selfies. They have included a 13-megapixel front-facing sensor here on the Desire 10 Pro, which also has a f/2.2 aperture. Allowing for brighter images and sharper pictures.
It’s a bit unfortunate that the HTC Desire 10 Pro won’t be coming to the US, and so far HTC has not announced it as coming to any other countries besides India, as it does appear to be a pretty good looking smartphone. Of course, HTC has always been good about creating well built smartphones, but their marketing and releases are always a bit odd, and that’s the case with the Desire 10 Pro
