Xiaomi had introduced the Xiaomi Mi 5c yesterday, and the phone’s first camera samples just surfaced, along with its AnTuTu results. The Xiaomi Mi 5c is the company’s first Pinecone-powered smartphone. What is ‘Pinecone’? As some of you are probably wondering, Xiaomi not only introduced the Xiaomi Mi 5c yesterday, but also their first mobile SoC, the Pinecone Surge S1. This is a mid-range SoC, and as already mentioned, it’s fueling Xiaomi’s all-new mid-ranger.
That being said, the Xiaomi Mi 5c managed to hit 58.232 points on AnTuTu, which only shows that this is a rather solid mid-range, but it reveals more about the Pinecone Surge S1, than the device itself. Xiaomi claims that this SoC is more powerful than the Snapdragon 625, which means that the Xiaomi Mi 5c should perform really well actually. Now, if you take a look at the same images down below, you’ll get to see the performance of Xiaomi Mi 5c’s 12-megapixel camera (1.25um pixel size). This camera actually offers a really high-quality dual noise reduction algorithm, which means it should be able to pull out more detail in low light scenarios. In addition to that, the Pinecone Surge S1’s ISP algorithm also helps in this regard, as it’s meant to improve low light camera performance by up to 150%. Now, the sample images down below are actually really good, a level of detail is really high, and the images definitely offer nice contrast as well, while white balance is also on point. The last image in the gallery was actually taken by the Xiaomi Mi 5c’s front-facing shooter, in case you want to check that out as well. That being said, we’ll have to test this camera ourselves in order to confirm this quality, but the provided, official images sure do look nice, even though these are not full resolution images, as they were cropped.
The Xiaomi Mi 5c sports a 5.15-inch fullHD display provided by JDI, and the phone also packs in 3GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. We’ve already mentioned its processor and camera sensors, but it’s worth mentioning that the phone also comes with a 2,860mAh non-removable battery which offers fast charging (9V/2A). The Xiaomi Mi 5c is priced at 1,499 Yuan ($218) in Xiaomi’s homeland, and comes in several color options.
