Philips Intros Xenium X588 With 3GB Of RAM, 5,000mAh Battery

Philips has just introduced a new smartphone for the Russian market, the Philips Xenium X588. This smartphone might reach other markets, but Russia is its initial target market. Philips is a well-known company all over the world, though this company is definitely not the first brand you’ll think about when it comes to smartphones. Philips is manufacturing smartphones, but they’re not exactly well-known for those, their TVs, smart accessories and audio products are far more popular to consumers.

That being said, the Philips Xenium X588 is a really solid smartphone which packs in a rather huge battery on the inside. This smartphone is made out of metal, it comes with on-screen buttons, and its fingerprint scanner is placed on the back. The back of this device looks rather odd considering its main camera is placed rather high on the back, and below it, you’ll find an LED flash and a fingerprint scanner, while the company’s branding is also included on the back. The power / lock, volume up and volume down keys are placed on the right-hand side of this smartphone, and the device comes with plenty of bezel, unfortunately. The Philips Xenium x588’s bezel below the display is most noticeable, though its side bezels are not exactly that thin either.

The Philips Xenium X588 sports a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card). This smartphone is fueled by the MediaTek MT6750 64-bit octa-core processor, along with the Mali-T860MP2 GPU. A 13-megapixel shooter is placed on the back of the Philips Xenium X588, while a 5-megapixel camera can be found on the front side of this smartphone. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Philips Xenium X588, and a 5,000mAh battery is also a part of this package, and it is not removable. The Philips Xenium X588 offers an IR sensor as well, while the device measures 144.2 x 71.9 x 9.3mm, and weighs 168 grams. We still don’t know how much will this phone cost in Russia, but it will be quite affordable, at least based on its specifications, as this is a mid-range smartphone.
